Q: What is Authpoint and why do I need it?

A: Authpoint is a service the school has adopted in an effort to prevent cyber-attacks on our network. There has been an exponential rise in cyber threats and School Lane takes safety, including cyber security, very seriously. Authpoint creates a token relationship with your device. When you attempt to sign-in and send a “push”, this triggers your phone to alert you that a sign-in attempt is requested. Currently we are only enforcing multi-factor authentication for Outlook Webmail, Help Desk, and Remote Access RDP.

Q: Can I uninstall the Authpoint app from my phone after setup is complete?

A: No. The app is required for two-step verification each time you attempt to sign-in to the Staff Portal.

Q: Do I need to use Authpoint to sign-in while I’m at school?

A: No. Multi-factor authentication is only enforced while off-premises.

Q: The QR code in my activation email has expired, what do I do?

A: Contact a member of the IT department for assitance.

Q: I’ve already set up Authpoint, but I’m getting a new phone. What do I need to do?

A: Contact a member of the IT department for assistance.

Q: My phone sent me a sign-in notification, but I’m not attempting to sign-in, what should I do?

A: DO NOT approve the request. Notify a member of the IT Department as soon as you can do so.
