Free Breakfast and Lunch for All School Lane Charter School Students in the 2024-25 School Year!
School Lane Charter School has announced that free breakfast and lunch will be provided for all SLCS students grades K-12 this year. The SLCS cafeteria program will operate under the Community Eligibility Provision, which is available to schools and districts that participate in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOUR CHILD?
All students, regardless of economic level, are eligible for one FREE BREAKFAST and one FREE LUNCH each school day of the 2024-25 school year. Your child can enjoy a delicious, nutritionally balanced breakfast and lunch without having to pay a fee or submit an application. No further action is required by you.
ALL MEALS MEET FEDERAL AND STATE GUIDELINES
At breakfast, students must take 3 of the 4 items offered at breakfast, and 1 of those items must be a 1/2 cup fruit. At lunch, students must take 3 of the 5 components offered, and 1 of those items must be a 1/2 cup fruit or 1/2 cup vegetables.
ARE Á LA CARTE ITEMS INCLUDED?
If your child wishes to purchase an extra entrée or an á la carte item (like ice cream, extra milk, or snacks), you must pay for these items in advance, as has always been the case.
CONVENIENTLY MANAGE STUDENT LUNCH ACCOUNTS
You can view your child’s lunch account 24/7 to add money for extra meal items, drinks, or snacks, identify what they are eating, and receive low balance account notices.
